Kay Talley

Kay Talley age 83, passed away on June 7, 2022 in Lexington, OK. Janiria Kay Talley was born on June 14, 1938 east of Lexington to L.C. Scott and Dessie Scott (Blackburn). Kay attended school at Union Hill as a young girl. She met a boy named Lester Talley that had just moved close by. Since there were no fourth graders, they both got bumped to fifth and became fast friends. They attended Lexington High School and childhood friends blossomed into high school sweethearts. Kay graduated with the Bulldog class of 1955, and shortly after was married to her best friend Lester Talley on January 7, 1957 at the Spring Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Lexington. They soon started their family made their home in Del City. Kay began attending classes at the University of Oklahoma and eventually transferred to Central State in Edmond where she graduated with her Bachelors in both Secondary Education and Physical Education in 1969. She started teaching in 1970 at Midwest City and moved briefly to Lexington Public Schools. In 1981 Kay started teaching and coaching at Del City and was a proud Eagle until her retirement in the early 2000s. She was a lifelong learner herself, returning to college at UCO to earn her Master's in Business in 1981. Kay coached softball, track, and basketball and taught typing, office prep, and business in the classroom. Kay believed in preparing her students for life on and off the field and took great pride in their achievements. She was also a lifelong athlete, playing and coaching senior "granny" ball with the Oklahoma City Twisters until the age of 81. Kay was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and TuTu who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents L.C. Scott and Dessie Scott, and her brothers Donald Scott and Junior Scott. She is survived by her husband Lester Talley of the home. Her Brother Ernie Lee Scott of Howe, OK and Sister Patricia Eudy of Norman, OK. Her children Tracy Talley of OKC, and Terri Mackey and husband Michael of Moore, OK. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. No services are scheduled at this time.
