Lena Mae Rogers

Lena Mae Rogers age 91 of Sulphur, formerly of the McClain Co. area, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Ada. She was born on May 20, 1927 in Cole, Oklahoma. She was the 3rd child of four children born to Enoch Newton Wade and Stella (Price) Wade. Lena grew up and attended school in the Cole community. In 1942 she married Robert Stoney Rogers and together they raised two children, Roy and Janice. Because of Robert's job, working as a Union Electrician, Lena and her family lived in 23 different states during their first 10 years of marriage. In 1953 they returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Cole, then in 1956 moved to Rosedale, from 61-70 they lived in Criner, 71-83 they lived in Washington and for the past 35 years she has lived in Sulphur. Lena worked as a homemaker, wife and mother most of her life. While living in Criner, she also worked for Roy Wilson's Carpet Factory in Wayne. After moving to Sulphur, she worked at Apple Furniture. Throughout her life, Lena enjoyed gardening, cooking, mowing her yard and having Sunday get-to-gathers with her family. She was a Christian and a member of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Toots and Stella Wade; Husband, Stoney Rogers; Granddaughter, Robin Rogers; Great Granddaughter, Fashon Marie Rogers; Three brothers, Clarence W. "Fat" Wade, Will "Mug" Wade and John Wade; She is survived by: Son, Roy W. Rogers and wife Rolanda of Dougherty, OK, Daughter, Janice Rogers of Sulphur, OK. Two grandchildren, Denese Nokes and husband Stewart of Norman, Roy W. "Butch" Rogers II and wife Jayme of Hartshorn, OK. Two Step grandchildren, Clint Grinstead and fiancé Randi of Davis, Courtney Yingling and husband Jason of Davis, Three great grandchildren, Alee Rogers, Hayden Nokes and Heath Bebout. Five step great grandchildren, Abby Eason, Jake Yingling, Langston and Jolee Grinstead and Tryston Nowlin. One step great great grandchild, Brailey Grinstead. One niece, Carol Wade of Cole, OK. One sister-in-law, Wanda Wade of Cole, Also other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Washington Cemetery in Washington, OK.
