Lora Mae Dunn

Lora Mae Dunn, age 90, of Purcell went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026 in Blanchard. Lora Mae was born on April 12, 1935, at her family’s home west of Purcell. She was the third child of four children born to Jessie Franklin McGee and Frances Mae (Blair) McGee. Lora Mae grew up a farm girl and attended Washington schools, graduating with the class of 1953. She later met and married the love of her life, James Erkley Dunn on April 6, 1956 in Purcell. Together they raised five children, Jim, David, Janea, Sherry and Tracy on a farm southwest of Purcell near the Payne community. Lora Mae worked hard as a wife, mother and homemaker. Together she and James farmed and ran the family business, Dunn Construction for many years. She also worked as the company’s bookkeeper during that time. Lora Mae was a faithful Christian throughout her life. She was a charter member of the Union Hill Baptist Church, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. Throughout her life, she attended and was active in various other Baptist churches in the area. She was a wonderful seamstress and Quilter. She and her daughter Sherry enjoyed making quilts for the Infant Crisis Center in OKC. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Jess and Frances McGee; Husband, James Dunn in 1995; two daughters, Janea Dunn and Sherry Hart; one sister, Carolyn Caldwell and two infant brothers, David and Darl. She is survived by: Three children, sons, Jim Dunn and wife Anita of Cashion, David Dunn of Lindsay, and Tracy Hale and husband Larry of Goldsby, OK. Nine grandchildren; Brian Dunn and wife Edy, Brandon Dunn and wife Leah, Jarrod Atkinson and wife Julie, Sarah Atkinson, Jacob Hart, Rachel Stroble and husband Nathan, Joe Dunn and wife Jess, Tonya Haley and husband Adam, and Lariat Hale. Also 8 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 23, 2026 at the Little’s Chapel. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Memorials may be made to the Infant Crisis Center, 4224 N. Lincoln Blvd. OKC, 73105.
