Michael Douglas Moore

Beloved Youth Pastor, Doug Moore, entered Heaven’s Gates on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Michael Douglas Moore was born August 11, 1978 in Oklahoma City, OK, the middle child of Daniel Ray Moore and Cathryn Ann (Cornell) Moore. He was raised in Bethany and attended school in Putnam City, graduating from Putnam City North High School with the Panther’s Class of 1997. In his junior year, while attending D-NOW weekend, Doug surrendered his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, and dedicated his life to sharing the message of salvation to all people. It was during this time, that he met his best friend and wife, Ricki Lea Brown. They were the perfect couple and began their life together on May 27, 1999, at Council Road Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Doug attended Oklahoma Baptist University and later Liberty University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Religious Studies. He first worked as Youth Pastor at Kelham Ave. Baptist Church in OKC, and by April of 2001, they had settled in Lexington and began their ministry there. Doug spent the next 25 years, shepherding young people and pointing them to a life rich in Christ. He was passionate, a true leader and a champion for young people. Doug’s faith was tested in ways that many will never know, such as when his son Xander was taken home to be with the Lord at such a young age. But he never lost hope, and shared his heart with a message that impacted countless lives. He cherished Ricki Lea and honored his children by living out his faith, and was a wonderful provider for his family. He was witty, funny and dependable, and you could always count on Doug. He is absent from his body, but he is where his heart has longed to be, with his Lord. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by his precious son, Xander Moore. Doug is survived by: his wife Ricki Lea Moore; his children, Carter Moore and wife Chandler of Shawnee, OK and Charli Moore, McClain Moore and Baker Moore, all of Lexington; His parents, Dan and Cathy Moore of Bethany; siblings, Jeff Moore and wife Syndi of Yukon and Callie Morreau and husband Chad of Zambia; his parents-in-law, Rick and Elaine Brown of El Reno, OK and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Purcell. Burial will follow at 3:30PM at the Bethany Cemetery.
