Phillip Lancaster

Phillip "Phil" Franklin Lancaster, age 81 of Newcastle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at the Norman Healthplex. Phil was born March 6, 1937, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of two children born to Eulric Franklin Lancaster and Mary Pauline (Bouse) Lancaster. Phil grew up in Midwest City, graduating from Midwest City High School with the class of 1955. Several months after graduating, Phil joined the U. S. Air Force and made a career as a Flight Engineer. On June 6, 1957, Phil married the love of his life, Dortha Jean Doverspike of Oklahoma City. Together they raised two sons, Kerry and Jeffrey. For 31 years Phil proudly served his country as a Flight Engineer and later 15 years as a Civilian Contractor Flight Instructor. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and later lived in Germany 14 months. He also lived in Texas, Nebraska, California and spent his last 27 years living in Altus, OK. After retiring in 2000, Phil and Dortha bought a motor home and traveled for the next 10 years. They visited all lower 48 states and spent several months every year living in Jackpot, Nevada. For eight years during their stay in Jackpot, Phil worked as an RV Camp Manager. Since 2010, they have lived back in Oklahoma, living in Newcastle. While living in Newcastle Phil attended the Newcastle United Methodist Church. Phil loved his family and cherished the years he spent with the grandchildren traveling in the motor home. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Eulric and Mary Lancaster, He is survived by: Wife of 61 years, Dortha Lancaster of the home in Newcastle. Two sons, Kerry Lancaster and wife Noelle of Altus, OK, Jeffrey Lancaster and wife Samantha of Yale, OK. One sister, Marlene Jackson of Midwest City, OK.Three grandchildren, Zachary Lancaster and wife Andrea of Stillwater, OK, Addie Monzingo and husband Alex of Bristow, OK, Jackson Lancaster of Stillwater. One nephew, Michael Jackson and wife Kathy of Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be, 2:00PM Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at the Newcastle United Methodist Church, 121 E. Fox Lane in Newcastle.
