Roberta Nadine Bass

Nadine Bass, age 77 of Wanette, crossed the Jordan River on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 with her family at her side. Roberta Nadine Bass was born April 10, 1937 to Charles and Ruby Ross in Bethany, OK. Nadine lived the majority of her early years in Oklahoma City, graduating from Classen High School in 1955. She married the love of her life, Orville W. Bass on January 14, 1956 at Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. They moved to Wanette in June of 1966 and have loved their life on the farm. Since that time, she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Wanette, where she served the Lord as a teacher and VBS Director, as well as serving on various committees. Nadine especially enjoyed working in the flower beds and painting rooms or halls as needed at church. Her family, children and grandchildren brought her great joy in life. She spent countless hours at soccer games, gyms and baseball fields. She looked forward to family get togethers, and she and Orville greatly enjoyed hosting a large family Christmas celebration, a family favorite for more than 45 years. Nadine also loved her job with State Fair of Oklahoma, a position she held for more than 39 years. She retired as the Head of the Accounting Department in 2001. She looked forward to retirement and the many projects she planned to do. She became an avid gardener, and even took Vo Tech classes, where she earned the title of Master Gardener. Her WMU ladies, were a very precious part of her life as well. Nadine was loved deeply by her family and will be missed by both family and her brothers and sisters in Christ. She had a true servant's spirit; and worked and gave unconditionally, both at home and at church. She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Charles and Ruby Ross and 2 sisters, Charlene Gamble and Janie Smithson. Nadine leaves behind: Her loving husband, Orville W. Bass of the home; Children, Kay Hamilton and husband David and Cliff Bass and wife Gina; Grandchildren, Ryan Hamilton and wife Ashley, Jeffrey Hamilton and wife Christine, Cody Bass, Laura Reed and husband Chris and Caleb Bass; Great grandchildren, Alexis Reed, Charlotte Lee Hamilton, Rowan Hamilton, Caroline Hamilton, Knox Hamilton and Kate Reed; 1 brother, Charles B. Ross Jr. and wife Ruth; Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Wanette. Interment will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Baptist Children's Home.
