Ruby Palmer

Ruby Palmer, age 91 of Lexington, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021. She was born on May 8, 1929 in Greenville, SC to Bud Thomas Sosebee and Mary Ann (Smith) Sosebee. Ruby was raised in Greenville and attended school there, graduating from Parker High School in 1946. By chance, she met a young serviceman named Billy L. Palmer. They were the perfect match, and a short 3 days later, on May 24, 1947, they made it official and were married. While raising their four children, Ruby and Bill lived in various places, including New York, Florida, Hawaii, Tennessee, and several areas of Oklahoma, and by 1989 had settled in the Noble/Lexington area. Ruby's greatest joy was her family. She cherished being a wife and mother, and was never happier than day she became a grandma. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan, and very rarely missed an activity or a ballgame. She loved just being outside and tending to her garden. Ruby also enjoyed playing cards and board games and working crossword puzzles. She was a kind and nurturing woman of great faith and she looked for the best in everyone in every situation! She will be dearly missed! Ruby was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn Palmer and Ronald Palmer; her husband Billy L. Palmer; her parents, Bud and Mary Sosebee and siblings, Willie Mae Roddy, James Sosebee, Tommy Sosebee and Charles Sosebee. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Billie Brasier and husband Don of Lexington; son Donald Palmer and wife Cindy of Norman; 11 grandchildren, Tarek Palmer of Norman, Kevin and Julie Palmer of Texas, Terronda Palmer of South Carolina, Corrina and Mark Tate of South Carolina, Melissa and Randy Bryant of Noble, Miki and Chris Tucker of Pauls Valley, Scott and Tammy Brasier of Noble, Jason Palmer of Oklahoma City, James and Ashley Palmer of Tuttle, Mindy Palmer of Shawnee, Bryan Palmer of Norman, 18 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 19, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Noble. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the FBC Noble Food Closet.
