Sharon Sue Tate

Sharon Sue (LaValley) Tate sadly passed on May 20, 2024 at 77. She was born April 11, 1947 in Holdenville, OK above the Holdenville Bus Depot via a midwife to Clinton and Lula LaValley. She was a devoted, caring wife and mother. Family was very important to her. In the early 70s, she owned a clothing store, The Next Page, in Midwest City, OK next to Rose State College. Following that adventure, she began her career in student loans as the Student Loan Manager at the Tinker Federal Credit Union for over 10 years. Then, she and Johnny boldly moved to the mountains in Red River, NM for 5 years, where they single-handedly built their home together. While there, Sharon was the town clerk. After their return to Oklahoma, Sharon worked at the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loans Program {OGSLP) until her retirement in 2009. OGSLP was located in the Journal Record building where she was a survivor of the Murrah Building bombing. During their almost 60 years of marriage, Sharon and Johnny enjoyed many motorcycle journeys through the Colorado mountains and eastern Oklahoma scenery on their Harley, as well as attending many, many rock concerts throughout the years. She loved her two kitties, Milo and Phe. Sharon enjoyed and mastered many crafts, such as tole painting, sewing and crocheting. She loved dressing up for Halloween and won many costume contests throughout the years. She was an avid fan of OU sports and Thunder basketball along with watching great nieces and nephews play sports. However, her favorite pastime, for over 50 years, was watching Days of Our Lives. Sharon will continue to live in the hearts of her family, friends and those she encountered throughout her life. Like the sands of the hourglass so are the days of our lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Patsy Habern, Loretta Bennett, Joy Herring and Gary LaValley. She is survived by husband, Johnny, and daughter, Shelley Griffin, and many beloved relatives and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M.
