Shirley Morrison

Shirley Morrison, age 79 of Noble, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at Norman Regional Healthplex. Shirley Jean Lawrence was born November 7, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK, the 4th of 5 children born to Hobart Wilson Lawrence and Mary Ruth (Hatcher) Lawrence. She was raised primarily in Choctaw where she attended school, graduating with the Yellowjackets Class of 1965. She married her best friend and life partner, Dwight T. “Troy” Morrison, and they began a beautiful life together. They made their home in Little Axe where they raised their children, sons James and Dwight II and daughter, Sherri. Shirley worked a variety of odd jobs before starting with Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base. She retired as a sheet metal mechanic after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Shirley stayed busy in retirement, and even purchase a tread mill just to jump start her day. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she easily earned the nickname, the “field trip grandma”. She was their biggest fan and was determined to show them the world. Her and Troy bought a conversion van and a boat, and began traveling the country planning family camping trips with them. She enjoyed estate sales, visiting art exhibits and studying genealogy, and she never missed an opportunity to curl up with a good book. She was a master cross stitcher, and shared her many talents with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her husband, Troy Morrison; her parents, Hobart and Ruth Lawrence and siblings, Ivan Lawrence, Fred Lawrence, Dean Lawrence and Darrell Lawrence. Shirley is survived by: her daughter, Sherri Morrison of the home; her boys, James Morrison of Lexington and Dwight Morrison II and wife Melissa of Noble; 8 grandchildren, Juston, Katie, Joshua, Deavin, Hanna, Tristan, Shawn and Ruthie; 13 great grandchildren, Shilee, Casen, Hagen, Jemma, Joseph, Haisley, Waverly, Rowen, Amelia, Collin, Illie, Caleb and another, Charlotte, on the way; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2026, at Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
