Shirley Sue Stephens

Shirley Sue Stephens, age 72 of Cromwell, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Seminole. Shirley was born November 24, 1939 in Dibble, OK, the baby of 3 children born to Ruel Huston Smith and Grace Belle (Wilbanks) Smith. She was raised in the Dibble and Purcell area and graduated from Purcell High School in 1958. Shirley married Kenneth Joe Owings on November 1, 1958 and together they raised 3 children; sons, Kent and Kelly and daughter, Kenna. During this time, they called Choctaw home primarily, but moved frequently following oil field work. Shirley worked tirelessly as a homemaker. Her greatest joy was caring and providing for her family. She later married Billy Gene Stephens in 1982 and to this union her 4th child, Bill "BJ" was born. She moved to Cromwell, OK in 1988 and have remained there since. Shirley loved being outdoors and working with her hands. When she was able, Shirley loved working in her garden. She greatly enjoyed crocheting and was a whiz on a computer. Shirley cherished her family above all and she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by: Her parents: Huston and Grace Smith First husband: Kenneth Owings Her brother: Kenneth "Don" Smith; Her great granddaughter: Camryn Owings; Her nephew: Donald Lynn Smith 1 brother-in-law: Fred Beck Shirley leaves behind: Her husband of 30 years: Bill "BG" Stephens of the home Her daughter, Kenna Campbell and husband Roger of Bethel, OK 3 sons: Kent Owings of Bethany, OK Kelly Owings and wife Miranda of Lexington Bill "BJ" Stephens and fiancé Ashley of Seminole Her sister, Norma Jean Beck of Mountain View, AR Sister-n-law: Linnie Smith of Purcell 8 grandchildren: Josh Owings, Jarrod Owings, Kenneth Owings, Billy Owings and wife Victoria, Jayci, Reily, Rick Campbell and wife Chystal Alisha Perkins and husband Aaron 8 great grandchildren: Kaytlyn, Riley Jo, Izzy, Kaleb, Kash, Landon, Brook and Amber A special pet: Haylee her dog Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
