Steve Allen Broadbooks

Steve Allen Broadbooks died November 18, 2020 at OU Medical Center in Okla. City, from complications with COVID. Steve was born October 29, 1951 in Hayes, KS, the son of Allen and Alice (Goodwin) Broadbooks. He attended and graduated from Hays High School in 1969. He attended Fort Hays State University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors Degree in Spanish. He married Helen Chance on July 12, 1970 in Jennings, Kansas. To this union, 4 children were born, Steve Allen II, Cale, Casie and Carie. Steve worked as a parts sales associate at Bob Moore Ford. Most of his working life was spent in the Ford parts service. In the 1980's, he owned an American Parts franchise in Liberal, KS. He also owned a lawn business for a time, as well as working for Country Manor Homes for several years. Steve loved shooting guns and fishing with his boys, and he especially enjoyed chasing his grandchildren to all of their sporting and music events. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a big celebration hosted by their children and grandchildren. Steve was a master woodworker. He loved making furniture, remodeling and making gifts to share with his family and friends. He was a gifted singer and particularly liked contemporary gospel music. One of his ministry gifts was arranging music for praise and worship at his church, Door of Hope. He loved his church, and his relationship with God was very important to Steve. Survivors include, wife, Helen of the home; Children, Cale Broadbooks and (Lacey), Casie Morris (Laramy), Drew Simmons (Sarah) and newly adopted son, Larson Whitney; Steve was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Lane, Cage, Hayvn and Caiden. His two sisters Judy Davis and Malia Westbrook (Harold) and a brother-in-law Norman Kline. He was preceded in death by: his parents; Son, Steve Allen Broadbooks II; daughter Carie Broadbooks Simmons; Grandson, Cache Wayne Morris and sisters, June Kline and Allena Reece and Marci Broadbooks, nephew Keye Westbrook and two nieces Leigh Anne Davis and Kimberly Davis. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.
