Tom Rosamond

Tom Rosamond, age 67 of Wayne, passed away Friday December 28, 2012. Tom was born March 7, 1945 in Ben Hur, AR, the baby of 4 children born to Samuel Erastus Rosamond and Mary Ida (Orr) Rosamond. He was raised in Cave Creek, AR and began school there. At the age of 16, his family had moved to Oklahoma. Tom began working for Youngs Well Service and this eventually led to a lifelong career in the oil field industry. He married his true love; a young lady he met in the hospital named Janice Mari Tyra, on April 3, 1965 in Seminole, OK. Together they raised their only daughter, Sherrie. They made their home in Seminole for nearly 10 years. At this time, Tom took a job with the Sun Oil Co. They moved to OKC for a time, and later had stints in Kentucky and Texas before settling in Wayne in 1991. Tom retired as a Master Craftsman after more than 30 years in the industry. Tom was a dedicated Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #27. He was a proud 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master. He dedicated much time and many years of service to Masonic causes like Prevent Blindness, as well as support for local schools band programs and after prom activities. He was also an active supporter of the Okeya Mother's Program. Tom cherished his family. He was a dedicated husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. He enjoyed deer hunting and it was said the "He could build and/or fix anything". He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: His parents, Samuel and Mary Rosamond; A brother, Sam Rosamond; Sister, Fern Rosamond; A nephew, Frankie Hendrix and Son-in-law, Marty Creagan Tom leaves behind: His wife, Jan of the home; His daughter, Sherrie Rosamond of Purcell; His sister, Lavern Hendrix of Marshall, AR; 5 grandchildren, Angel Elkins, Jenny Suarez, Jobeth Juergens, Wendy Wyatt and Jon Creagan; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.
