Twila Annette Taylor

Twila Taylor, age 71, of Washington passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2024. Twila Annette Lyles was born on September 17, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma, the oldest of two children born to Raymond Wilson Lyles Jr. and Billie Jean (Grayson) Lyles. In 1960, the Lyles family moved to the Goldsby area to raise their family. At just 10 years old, Twila made the best decision she could ever make by accepting Christ Jesus as her Lord and Savior. From the ages of 11-17, she played the piano at church using her musical talents to bring glory to Him. From there, her faith only grew bigger and bigger. Twila attended Washington Public Schools and graduated with the Warrior Class of 1970. Shortly after, she attended business school to further her education and opportunities. While in high school, she met a young man named, Johnny Grant Taylor. Same as their parents, they were high school sweethearts. They fell in love and were married on April 2, 1971. Johnny and Twila's love story was nothing short of epic, as the couple shared 52 wonderful years of marriage together, with memories to last a lifetime. Twila was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. She worked several odd jobs at places such as TG&Y national headquarters and Southwestern Bell, before her and Johnny continued operations of Taylor Paint & Body Shop. They owned and operated the shop together, and worked side by side for nearly 37 years. Twila was a very caring and selfless woman. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and did so with a smile on her face. Twila was also a woman of great faith and a faithful member of the Washington First Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed playing in a band with Johnny and Bill and Becky Andrews. Music was a gift that they shared together, and it brought them all much joy. More than anything, Twila was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved chasing them around for all sporting events and activities they were involved in. She was always their number one fan and their biggest supporter! She truly cherished every moment with them. Twila was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her parents, Raymond and Billie Lyles. Twila is survived by: her loving husband, Johnny Taylor of the home; son, Justin Taylor and wife Brandy of Washington; a daughter, Tianna Elliott and husband Roger of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Case, Lane, and Will Taylor, and Taylon and Eastyn Elliott; brother, Wilson Lyles and wife Dee of Goldsby; sister-in-law, Cheryl McLure of Oklahoma City; nephews, Blake Lyles, wife Vanessa and children of Goldsby and Matt McLure, wife Kelly and son of Chicago, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 19, 2024 at Washington First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com
